In an attempt to distance themselves from Harvey Weinstein, the Democratic donor whose sexual assaults were an ‘open secret’ all around Hollywood and the political world, Democratic senators are sharing their stories.
All over facebook and social media, people have written “#MeToo” as a way to show that they have been a victim of sexual assault or sexual harrassment at some point in their lives.
On NBC’s ‘Meet The Press’ four female senators Elizabeth Warren, Claire McCaskill, Heidi Heitkamp and Mazie Hirono shared their ‘Me too’ stories.
“He slammed the door and lunged for me. It was like a bad cartoon, he’s chasing me around the desk trying to get his hands on me. After several rounds I jumped for the door and got out and I went back to my office and just sat and shook and thought: What have I done to bring this on?” said Warren about some unnamed male colleague.
“I cautiously approached the very powerful speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives. He looked and me and paused and said, ‘Well, did you bring your knee pads?’ I do think he was joking, but it was shocking that he would make that joke to a colleague,” said McCaskill,
