President Trump made headlines when he said what we were all thinking about football players disrespecting our flag.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b*tch off the field right now, out, he’s fired. He’s fired.’ You know, some owner is going to do that. He’s going to say, ‘That guy that disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner, they don’t know it [but] they’ll be the most popular person in this country,” said President Trump.
As a result, hundreds of football players have been kneeling during the national anthem as a way to give the middle finger to President Trump. And perhaps to our army veterans as well. Rosie O’Donnell came up with a ‘brilliant’ new way of protesting President Trump. Kneeling before him. As a sign of disrespect. Not very well thought out.
“The kneel will now become a sign of opposition to Trump,” tweeted Mother Jones editor David Corn. Rosie O’Donnell loved this, retweeted it and wrote “i am kneeling as i type.”
People immediately made a joke out of the idea. “In the #GameOfThrones Universe, to “bend the knee” represents the very highest form of respect and loyalty,” wrote Neil deGrasse Tyson. “So anyone who opposes Trump will kneel before him? Dude… I don’t think you know how this works,” wrote another user. “Definitely send Trump a message by kneeling every time he walks by,” wrote another.
